Greetings All:

Liberty Hill is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, African American communities in the City of North Charleston.  We, the residents of the community, are dedicated to the quality of life and believe Education is one of the key factors for sustainability of the community.

Because Education plays such an important role in the success of the community, we, the Liberty Hill Afterschool Enrichment Program (LHAEP), established an Education Endowment Fund with a mission to increase the literacy rate of students reading below grade level in our community.  Literacy is a hot topic of discussion not only in our community but in all communities across the Charleston County School District (CCSD).

LHAEP believes creating this Education Endowment Fund is a step in the right direction for assisting the CCSD with its goal of eradicating illiteracy among its students.  The funds from the endowment will be used to establish the Liberty Hill Afterschool Enrichment Program.

However, in order for this vision to become reality, the LHAEP is seeking the support of community members as well as community organizations to commit to endorsing the success of the program.  As believers in Education, we know we can count on your assistance in making this vision a reality.

In closing, we know that our life is an integral part of our community and as long as we live we should make it a priority to do for the community whatever we can.  LHAEP looks forward to your support in this extremely important endeavor.

On behalf of the members of the LHAEP and the residents of the community, I would like to extend sincere thanks in advance to those of you that help to fulfill our community’s dream.

Sincerely,

Robert B. Fludd
Executive Director
